Boy21, written by Matthew Quick is a book about a kid named Finley that has a love for basketball. He has played the game ever since his mothers murdering and he would do anything to play basketball. But, then something drastic changes him forever. A boy by the name of Russ Washington comes to his city to live with his grandparents. Russ is a nationally recruited basketball but he was no interest after the murdering of his parents. Finley's job is to look after Russ and to persuade him to play basketball again. But, there is one catch. Russ plays the same position as Finley and wears the same number. That would mean that Finley would be the odd one out. I should to the hospital, dad." Finley left his game to see Erin. By doing that he lost his spot on the team that he worked some hard to get. All of the hours that he spent training meant nothing to him at that moment. All that mattered to him was Erin. Finley's earliest memories were him playing basketball in his backyard. But, he still decided to go see Erin. He knew that it was the right choice to comfort her after her accident. He knew that Erin would be scared about her future and would need someone significant in her life to be there and help her; and if that meant losing his spot on the team then so be it. Furthermore, after he saw Erin he missed practice and school to see her again, day after day. That is what ultimately lost his spot on the team. Even after Erin was not allowed to see Finley in the hospital anymore that didn't stop him. Finley cared so much about Erin and wanted to know what happened to her after she left Bellmont without a trace. He cared so much that he went into one of the most feared pubs in all of Bellmont to get answers regarding Erin's location. Finley would have been easily murdered if it wasn't for one of his father's close friends who happened to be inside of the bar.
