In about c.580 BCE the Kouros (Youth) was created. This is a sculpture of a Greek God standing in the frontal position with one foot pointed forward and the hips still straight. This shows a godly position because realistically humans cannot stand like this. This is very important because for the Greeks to mimic the Ancient Egyptian sculpting styles you can see that they are trying to make a statement. They are trying to expand the footprint of the art of the Ancient Egyptians. They specifically followed the stance and facial expressions of the sculptures which we see now as a Godly stance because humans cannot physically stand the way that they are standing. The resemblance between the Ancient Greek and the Ancient Egyptian sculptures is very important because the Egyptian Pharaohs are known as Demi Gods and the Ancient Greek were showing themselves as Gods in their Sculptures. In the Kuros from Tenea head you can see that they mouth has a smile to it. This is something new to us. We did not see a smile in these types of sculptures for a long time. SCHS is in a major transition point. There are many issues that need to be addressed and developed. After discussion with the principal, it was determined that this would be an on–going process. This team would serve as data collection and analysis group. Since we could not "fix" or address all the issues we discussed them and prioritized them, deciding to bite off a chunk at a time. Below are the recommendations, timeline, strategies, and rationale behind the strategy.

School Setting:

Swain County High School is the only high school in the county. It is situated about a mile on the outskirts of a small town with 5 stoplights. The school currently enrolls 584 students. It houses a newly restructured Alternative Learning Program. The Alternative Learning Program houses 31 students. The high school also has a Freshman Academy which accommodates 156 students. These students are housed in a separate building for 50% of the day and then branch out to their electives. Both of these are initiatives that stemmed from high drop–out rates. The high school has recently gone through yet another leadership change. The school is now on its 4th principal in the past 5 years. It has seen 3 assistant principals in the past 4 years.

Community Setting: Swain County is a small rural community with a population of 14,717. 24% is made up of children ages 0–19, while another 25% is people 60 or older. The Community has a small tax base as 70% of our county is Federal land or Park. Swain County

Although, the main character begins the story as an innocent child, Tyler displays how the confusion and lack of communication devolves Donny. Donny feels his mother Daisy and his father are too controlling and give him no freedom. While his mother on the hand, thinks she can control him entirely. As a child, Donny was a very blonde–haired youngster almost white. As he grew older and went through different events in his life his hair turned dark. The more stressful situations Donny encounters the darker a person overall he becomes. As he progresses from a toddler to a young adult different outside sources such as school, family, and friends affect Donny's personality and his self esteem. For example, most of Donny's childhood, he felt the world revolved around him and any decision he made. This is when he began degressing and becoming depressed he was not the center of intention anymore altering his life as he knew it. The characteristic of slow work repeats in the two types of stories told by Fr. Boyle. The one that grabs the readers' attention more describes the lives of people in detail and with resolution. Whether the youth he met ends up going to a jail or finds a job and a home in Homeboy Industries, we know to an extent what their stories are. We can understand and imagine the lives of the youth from childhood, the problems they faced, the way they went about handling them, and what Fr. Boyle thought and did during those times. The other type consists of brief mentions of the people Fr. Boyle ran into. He can only tell us what happened and what he hoped at the time, but we are left without fuller stories of the people. These unsatisfying accounts, however, are proof of the author's intention for writing this book. We are not supposed to read about the lives and, really, the challenging situations of the youth and attempt to find solutions. Especially as a stereotypical student studying at Georgetown University, I tend to think I need to fix the problem and make the world a better place. Syrian refugees should not be allowed into America.

If Americans do take in refugees, this will have little to no help to Syria. This will benefit the refugees, but taking in Syrian refugees doesn't help the Syrian civil war or the war against the multiple terror groups in Syria. Furthermore, this will decrease the population, which can potentially harm the country. As of 2013, the population of Syria is 22.8 million. Since 2011, 11 million people have been displaced from their homes. Not all these people have left the country, but many of them have, and are refugees looking for a home. This does not help Syria's current situation, because if they lose population it could hurt their country even more. If we take in Syrian refugees, this will offer very minimal help for Syria. Upon completion of TLC, melting point analysis, as well as IR spectrum, and 1H NMR analysis, it was determined that the reaction using the molecular sieves produced the purest substance. Acetaminophen was first introduced in 1955 (Richman, 2004). It is an over–the–counter drug that relieves pain and reduced fevers. Acetaminophen is considered an alternate to aspirin since it does not irritate the stomach (Richman, 2004). It also has very low toxicity is it is used properly. Acetaminophen is cheap and easily obtainable from any pharmacy.

As the solution is dissolved, heated, and later cooled, the impurities of the solution remain in the solution. As more solvent is added, more of the product will remain in the solution rather than crystallizing; hence, a much lower yield would be obtained.



b) If 5mL of water were added for every 1g of crude product then one of two things would happen; the solid would not dissolve or the impurities would still be present within the product. The solvent is used to dissolve all the impurities of the crude product and if less solvent is available, the impurities would remain within the product.



c) If room temperature solvent was used rather than cold solvent then more of the product will remain in the solution. As temperature increases, solubility also increases in most cases, which would keep some of the product dissolved resulting in a lower yield.

Through our discussion in class over sleep disorders, we have discussed all different types of disorders, which lead to an interesting one called sleep apnea. In lecture, I have learned that sleep apnea can take a toll on the people it affects, and can make a difference in the way one lives. Sleep disorders make us understand how complex and interesting the brain can be. Sleep disorders can be caused by a variety of reasons, but one of the leading reasons I believe that causes sleep apnea is stress.



My Empirical Evidence

Most cases of sleep apnea are linked to stress, but the stress in sleep apnea can also lead to other medical problems such as an increased risk for cardiovascular consequences. It has been tested and proven that smoking and diabetes were also a large factor in the disorder of sleep apnea (Simiakakis M et al., 2012). Some studies have shown differences between cardiovascular disease and stress (Greenlund et al. 1995; Riese et al. 2000; Heslop et al. 2002a,b; Belkic et al. 2004). It is a terrifying fear to think that so many medical diseases can lead to the cause of a sleep disorder. It's like most of the time with people one part of their body messes up, and it leads to something else. It's an eye opener to realize that this sleep disorder can be caused by many health related problems, and not just stress.
