Disorder In A Midsummer Night's Dream
Shakespeare's themes of disorder, power and control, and love in a Midsummer Night's Dream are evidently displayed in Michael Hoffman's 1999 adaption of the play. To start off, disorder is very apparent in Shakespeare's text as much as it is in the movie. In the Hoffman movie, there is playful music playing in the background as Lysander wakes up and for the entirety of the scene. This music doesn't match the setting of the scene. This scene isn't one with comedy, but rather one that is opposite of funny since the confusion of the lover's and play begins at this moment. It would have been appropriate to play a more serious tone of music to create a sense of order, but since one of the themes of the story was disorder, the music was appropriate
