Global Stratification Chapter 9
In chapter nine of the class textbook, it mentions an important term called Global Stratification. Global Stratification is the arrangement of individuals and group rankings. Where an individual resides does affect their ranking because of limited access to the world's wealth. There are three categories that people are places based on their income; High Income, Middle Income, and low income.
The higher income nations are known to be the most fortunate when it comes to having a stable life. A lot of high income families have money that is inherited, which is also known as "old money". In order for you to fall in this description, the money must be from three generations for it to be considered old money. The higher income nations run the world because the wealth is what controls our nation's, therefore, they have access to the best education systems because they are able to fund it. Knowledge is power and in order to run the world it takes money and knowledge. When higher income couples have children and send their children to a school with other high income families, this pattern will continue and the people in this particular community, will soon have inherited money. The United States of America is an example of an higher income nation.

As a result, I learned that there were only three different categories in Global Stratification. Just from observing and reading about other nations, it seems like there would be more categories.
