In Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, the set design was very well done. It was a colourful set, that matched the time of the story. The set was very simple, but effective; there was two set of steps that could move, which allowed various levels throughout the performance, as well as a spot for the choir of children to blend into and act as a part of the set. There were many small set pieces and props that were gorgeously painted, and made the scene look as if they were in a children's pop–up book. The costumes were absolutely amazing, every character looked colourful, while still fitting their part. A few great costumes were Joseph's coat, and the brothers costumes. Joseph's coat was very effective, the vibrant colours allowed the coat to stand out, but the most impressive part was when they incorporated the coat into the dance. There was a part in the dance where the brothers gathered around Joseph, and they each grabbed a part of the coat to create a circle of his coat to surround him. This was effective because it brought the attention towards Joseph in a fun and mystical way. Joseph's brothers had costumes that looked very realistic, and belonging in the time period. This made the audience become enwrapped in the story, since the clothing looks so real, it makes the audience forget they are watching a play. Overall, the costumes were amazing, the colour and realism made them pop out and indulge the audience. The acting and blocking were perfect when done by the professional actors, their movements were clear and sharp, and their facial expressions were quirky and eye catching.
