As I thought through I realized that he really isn't a hard opponent for me. He played a good game and I lost all my focus becuase I thought I had the win in my hands. My father walks in the room and tells me to, "Take this as a learning experience". I did not know what he meant until I realized all that I did wrong. I realized that I can always play well once I keep my focus throughout the whole match. This match taught me that I must always keep my focus no matter what. I beat my opponent 11–4 in the first game because I kept my focus throughout the game. The rest of the match would have been exactly like that if I simply just kept my focus. I listened to my father and took this moment as a learning experience. For the next couple of weeks, I started to change my level of focus. I played with old men who were fairly easy to play with, however, I tried to keep my focus throughout the whole match even though I could play around with these old men and still beat them. This little drill helped me overcome my nervousness and my lack of focus during important matches that I had in the future. Even to this date I have found that this little change in my mentality during squash matches has helped me during tough situations and has got me to my high rank that I am today.
