My Past Doesn't Determine My Forthcoming

Have you ever thought about how you've lived effects who you're becoming? Whether it's good or bad, life complications has lead me to believe my past doesn't determine my future. Growing up I encountered so much, which prepared my mind frame for the life I want for myself as well as children. Day to day conditions made me want to turn to, or from what I've experienced throughout life. Either way I had to choose what was best for me. Life is what you make it, growing up I've perceived domestic violence, dealing drugs, and learning how to change the outcome of it all. Growing up in the projects there was my parents, a younger sister, an older brother, and myself. No one really knew what took place behind closed doors. My father would beat my mother when something didn't go his way, and my mother would take it out on us emotionally. One Sunday morning, my mother was doing her daily cleaning when my siblings and I was sitting in the living room watching cartoons, my father came beating heavily on the door, demanding to get in. My mother yelled aggressively from the back room, "DO NOT OPEN MY DOOR!" Being so scared while my father yelled at us through the mail slot, "Open this door. All I could think about is, if I open the door my mother is going to beat me. If I don't open the door, my father is going to beat all of us. Sure enough
