I remember being awake one night at two in the morning a couple of months ago, feeling overstressed, with a substantial amount of homework yet to complete. I noticed that staying up late because of homework was a continuous habit for me, and that I could barely achieve enough sleep to function in the daytime. I then realized that I only took two accelerated classes out of my seven class schedule, and, nonetheless, suffered from being overloaded with schoolwork. How do students that take a larger number of advanced classes handle the extra labor? Do these students possess a healthy mind and body? What can we do to prevent this overload of work thrown onto them? Schools provide numerous advanced classes for students to enroll in. Students are allowed to take as many advanced classes as their schedule allows, but as most students have hopes of getting into the college of their choice, they enroll in a large amount of AP and honor classes. To avoid this complication, there should be a limit on the amount of advanced classes that students are allowed to select. Certainly, there are a few students that are advanced in all subjects and prosper with a challenge and lots of work. They are able to handle any class and the work that comes with it when thrown at them. However, the majority of students are only skilled in a select amount of subjects, but continue to overload themselves when they are not fit.
