Pros And Cons Of Amend The Second Amendment
In this essay, I propose to amend the Constitution to modify the second amendment with: A well regulated State National Guard is necessary to provide safety of a free country when needed, the rights of people who pass the background check, shall not be infringed.
I proposed this change because I believe by amending the constitution in a way that I mentioned we may not able to promise that no mass shooting will happen in the U.S, but this new amendment for sure stop many mass shootings and gun violence to occur. The current constitution is saying that "A well–regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." First, I believe National Rifle Association (NRA) has too much power over the U.S. politicians, and since less law control is more beneficial to the NRA members, they would not allow the politicians to increase the gun control laws. Second, According to Congressional Research Service report, "the estimated total number of firearms available to civilians in the United States had increased to approximately 310 million: 114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns"(Peters, 2012). Therefore, it is so difficult or nearly impossible to stop gun violence even if no one will able to buy a gun from tomorrow, there are too many guns among American civilian that won't stop bad people from gun
