Reading, writing, and speaking, all are important skills used in everyday life. I am sure everyone has a lot of stories concerning each of these topics. Each of the topics play vital roles in our lives from childhood to adulthood. Often our connection to a certain one will influence paths we take in college and our careers. Each one of us will have a different connection to one or to all. When I think about each of these topics and how they have influenced my life, the one that has the most memories, warmth and fondness would be reading. When I reflect on my childhood, reading was a big part of it; my mom read Peter Pan to me so often that the book fell apart and I knew every word, today I still enjoy having someone read to me.

I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...I still do not like to speed through a story, nor do I like when things are skipped. Stories of all kinds all are meant to be savored and enjoyed. I know there are a lot of people who do not enjoy reading, they would rather watch the movie. I think that reading the story is much more creative. It allows your mind to wander and visualize the story and its surroundings. I feel this makes for a deeper connection to the story. Often therefore it is very disappointing to watch the movie adaptation of a book.

The time that my mother took to read to me constantly had a lot to do with my passion for reading to this day. I can get lost in a story much easier than I can a movie or t.v. show. Even though, I do love marathoning t.v. shows on Netflix, reading is my biggest passion. I have tons of books and book collections. I am often so involved with the book and the characters that when I finish the book I am sad, it is almost like a break up. I will even re–read the same book just because I loved it so much.

Even now as an adult I like to be read to as much as I enjoy reading. Almost every night my husband will read to me out of the Bible. It is a precious thing that I receive much enjoyment from.
