Sherwood Anderson is not a very common or heard–of name in this day and age, but he used to be back in the twentieth century. He was a famous author and he used his personal background, as well as the time period in which he lived, to help him write some of his stories. His stories has influenced society and the twentieth century as a whole. Anderson grew up as one of seven children and his father worked as a former Union soldier and a harness–maker. He was drafted into the army for the Spanish–American war. Often, he would put subtle hints about his own life in his works. His style has impacted others by inspiring them to follow the path of writing. Society at the time was impacted by writing subjecting and self–revealing works. Although few today have heard of Sherwood Anderson, he was popular, if not famous, in the twentieth century, because of his influence on society during that time period. Sherwood Anderson was born in Camden, Ohio on September 13, 1876. His parents' names were Irwin McLain and Emma Jane Anderson, and his father was a harness–maker as well as a former Union soldier. Anderson did well in school, but he left his education only after being in high school for nine months. According to Sherwood Anderson biography (2107), "After brief stays in various cities, the family finally settled in Clyde, where senior Anderson found job on and off.
