There are many television shows that can keep anyone entertained, but Shameless has all the right factors that are needed to be a great dramatic comedy. Shameless is a good dramatic comedy because the characters and situations are relatable to real–life, the TV show has moral teachings, and it's very suspenseful. One of the things that makes Shameless such a great dramatic comedy is how the characters and situations are so relatable to real–life. It's important for a TV show to make the audience feel like they're connected to the characters as they deal with their situations in each episode. There is evidence in every season that shows the relativity between the characters and real–life situations. For example, in season 6, episode 1; Frank is currently dealing with losing a loved one, while both daughters, Fiona and Debbie are making decisions about their pregnancy. Fiona begs for her little sister to do adoption or abortion. Debbie doesn't quite understand how Knue 2 having a child while being fourteen, can ruin a lot of great opportunities later. Fiona chooses to have an abortion since she cannot make enough money to support herself or all her siblings. In addition to relatable characters and situations, Shameless also offers moral teachings.
