Bovine infertility is one of the major economic issues challenging the dairy industry today. Currently in the United States, expenses stemming from dairy cow infertility are estimated to exceed $350M per year. Several factors contribute to this problem, including, anovulation, the inability to ovulate a fertilizable egg. Acknowledging that the occurrence of ovulation is facilitated by the actions of the immune system, I'm hypothesizing that impairment of the immune system will alter the activity of leukocytes, especially macrophage within the ovary.
