Magic Realism mixes and disrupts ordinary everyday reality with strange, impossible and miraculous episodes and powers. Professor Mathew Strecher defines magic realism as "what happens when a highly detailed, realistic setting is invaded by something too strange to believe".In magic realism,the magical element are blended into a realistic atmosphere in order to access a deeper understanding of reality. Because it is set in a normal, modern world with authentic description of humans and society, magic realism differs from pure fantasy.Major magic realist writers are Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Laura Esquivel, Salman Rushdie,Gunter Grass ,Angela Carter ,John Fowles, Italo calvino and Graham Swift.
