Horsemanship is more than teaching a horse how to behave. As Sylvia Scott stated in her article on Natural Horsemanship, "Natural Horsemanship, sometimes referred to as 'Horse Whispering,' really has nothing to do with literal whispering...." Communicating with the horse through the use of your body language, such as your eyes, the placement of your body, the tone in your voice, pressure you apply, the amount of release you give, the tools you use, and how you listen to a horse are all factors in horsemanship. This project has taught me how to be respectful because if you don't respect the horse they won't respect you, and that applies so much in the real world. Patience has never been one of my strongest suits, I always want things done with quickness and exactitude, but as I am working with horses all of that seems to change. Learning horsemanship is something that takes plenty of patience because sometimes the horse won't do what you want it to do and you can't simply tell it stop and rewind, you have to continue with what you had initially set out to do. The reason for that being, is that if you stop and rewind then you will confuse the horse and then it won't know what to do.
