Surveys show that 50% of 3–6 year olds look at their bodies in shame after picking up a magazine filled with images of fabricated perfection according to studies done by Harvard University. People young and old, dread becoming obese or wish to be thinner due to the daily exposure to photoshopped images. I am one of many teenagers that have grown up with the fear and yearning to be lean and alluring just like the models packed into our magazines, tv shows, billboards, and advertisements. Luckily I was fortuitous enough to be educated about photoshop and it's deception before collapsing into a serious disorder such as anorexia or bulimia while a bountiful amount of others are still fighting for their lives. By releasing these images all around the world, false standards of beauty for how we should look cause many to fall into lives of disorder. To resolve the effects of photoshop many celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Kate Winslet and Vanessa Hudgens have sworn off the modifying of their pictures. This issue has come to the attention of many companies around the world too, such as "Dove", which published the campaign "Evolution" where they unravel untouched pictures of their models. The clothing company "Aerie" also has joined the fight against photoshop. The company has cast off all use of photoshop on their models and have commenced working along with the National Eating Disorders Association(NEDA). By more companies, celebrities and people around the globe standing up to photoshop, we can fight against false standards and step back and relish in the world's true, natural
